Krell composition receives 1st Prize at International Competition

The World Piano Teachers Association (WPTA) International Piano Competition proudly announced its 2023 winners, with Matthew's imaginative composition, "Improvisation after Paganini," receiving the prestigious 1st Prize for Composition. The organization has awarded the first prize to only two other people since the WPTA IPC inception in 2013.


Matthew extends his heartfelt gratitude and acceptance of the WPTA’s generous offer to act as the WPTA Canada-Composition President as they come together to celebrate and support pianists worldwide. He is humbled by the opportunity to connect with the global community of pianists and educators and looks forward to fostering a sense of unity and shared passion for music. Matthew’s winning composition will be featured in the 2024 WPC online edition.
