Pianist and composer Matthew Krell, joined by violinist Liana Branscome and cellist Raymond Newell, will perform an afternoon of piano trios at La Crescenta Presbyterian Church on Memorial Weekend, May 25, 2025, at 2:30 PM. This Sundays of Sound concert features the world premiere of a work by living composer Ronn Yedidia, alongside Adrienne Albert’s tango-inspired Ode to Piazzolla. The program includes Mendelssohn’s epic Piano Trio in D minor and Shostakovich’s chilling and frenetic Piano Trio No. 1 in C minor, in a 60-minute recital.
Ronn Yedidia, an acclaimed Israeli-American composer and pianist born in 1960, has captivated global audiences with compositions performed in major concert halls and broadcast on NPR, WQXR, and television networks. A child prodigy who won the Young Concert Artists’ Competition at age eight, he later earned a Doctor of Musical Arts from Juilliard, garnering numerous awards, including the Lincoln Center Scholarship and Juilliard Composition Competition. His works, praised for their romantic authenticity and inventive construction by outlets like the Los Angeles Times, have been commissioned by prestigious organizations such as the Seattle Chamber Music Society and the San Antonio International Piano Competition.
Adrienne Albert, an award-winning ASCAP composer, has her chamber, choral, vocal, orchestral, and wind band works performed worldwide, supported by prestigious organizations like the National Endowment for the Arts and American Composers Forum. Transitioning from a distinguished singing career with luminaries like Igor Stravinsky and Leonard Bernstein, she began composing in the 1990s, with recent commissions from groups such as the Cornell University Chorus and Pacific Serenades. A UCLA graduate, Albert’s music, recorded on labels like Naxos and Navona, is published through her Kenter Canyon Music (ASCAP) and distributed by Falls House Press, FluteWorld, and others. https://www.adriennealbert.com/
